Brief Description We are seeking a prolific communicator with the ability to proactively promote the incredible research that the Centre supports.
S/he will promote the Centre through exposing its initiatives to multiple audiences across traditional, digital, and social media platforms. We are seeking a special person who can work with academic contributors, journalist, videographers and photographers to develop and curate compelling and engaging content for our internal and external audiences.
80%, 4 days a week, 8 hrs per day
2-year appointment, renewable subject to grant success

Detailed Description The primary purpose of the job is to profile the DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence in Palaeosciences in the public sphere using a range of multimedia technologies.
The job will involve writing and editorial work for different media, for producing relevant and appropriate content for a diverse range of media channels. The incumbent should be familiar with various multimedia technologies to depict content in appropriate forms for use in the media for publicity and other purposes, for reproduction in internal and external publications and promotions, for use online, on our website and social media outlets.
Job Requirements Requirements:
• Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• A background in either science, digital technologies, media, marketing, or education will be advantageous
• Excellent English written, spoken and communication skills. Proficiency in one of the official South African languages is a plus
• Excellent research and interviewing skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work to strict deadlines
• Outstanding writing portfolio
• Five years relevant working experience
• Computer literate
• Driver’s licence
• Motivated, energetic and creative
Additional Details Must be willing to work after hours or on weekends to attend and promote events if required.
