The School seeks a proactive Project Manager and Researcher each on a three-year appointment to work with its newly established South African Research Chair in Applied Poverty Reduction Assessment. For more information on the School and Chair, see www.sds.ukzn.ac.za
Duties for the Project Manager and the Researcher:
- Take responsibility for research project planning and project management (Project Manager)
- Take responsibility for statistical analysis, student mentoring and teaching (Researcher)
- Raise funds for research and student support (both)
- Undertake independent and collaborative research with publications and networking (both).
Minimum requirements for both posts:
- Relevant Master’s degree
- Appropriate scholarship in research in Development Studies or relevant discipline
- Proven track record of research publications
- Experience in research, teaching or tutoring at a university level
- Working knowledge of statistical software, such as SPSS, STATA or SAS
- Demonstrated ability to manage research projects (Project Manager only)
- Demonstrated ability to undertake the analysis of quantitative data (Researcher only)
- Driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally and nationally.
Advantages:
- Qualification in Project Management or a related field (Project Manager)
- Qualification in Statistics, Economics or Mathematics (Researcher)
- Postgraduate teaching experience
- Relevant doctorate.
